Welcome to my new website! For all of us who have felt hopeless in the kitchen before, this site’s for you.

I have spent my adult life trying to find quick ways to make impressive dishes. Whether you have all day to cook a meal or just a few minutes, you will find recipes and tips on this site to help you.

I remember my first dinner party at the age of 22. I lived in San Clemente and had friends come to my little rental house in the Shorecliffs area. I made an authentic Mexican meal– green corn tamales, my mother’s chile relleno recipe, refried beans (made with lard!), Spanish rice, fried corn chips with lime juice squeezed on them, guacamole, pico de gallo (my friend Dawn now calls this “her” salsa recipe!!) and last but certainly not least…margaritas! What a fun night for all!! I found myself starting in the kitchen wondering how I was going to pull this off…I took baby steps and thought that if one thing didn’t turn out we still had a lot of other amazing things. I am sure my memories of the food are a lot better than how it tasted, but it was a good start!

The truth of the matter is, a lot of the time that I am in the kitchen I feel a little “in over my head.” It takes a little bit of overcoming the feeling of being overwhelmed and then my inner cook takes over. Along the way, I have ruined many a meal, and I have made some downright awful recipes that should never be attempted by anyone. If e were to go back and list all of the meals I have ruined, it would take up pages!! Overdone steak, dry and tough chicken, flopped cakes, burned risotto, ribs that have caught fire, boiled over pots, undercooked turkey, lumpy gravy—you name I have probably ruined it! But they say it’s not how you fall, it’s how you get back up that is important—and that is true for me in the kitchen. I can turn out some spectacular meals now, and I have learned from my many mistakes over the years.

I am hoping to inspire all who feel like the kitchen has kicked them in the backside.

Now let’s get cooking!
