Television’s “Hopeless Housewife” Erika Monroe-Williams has been cooking most of her life, beginning at an early age helping her mother in the kitchen. Erika recalls most every night being an occasion at the dinner table as a child and has tried to bring that same spirit to her own dinner table as an adult with her family- but not without hiccups along the way. Erika is now hoping to share her secrets with everyone who has felt as hopeless as she has felt in the kitchen at one time or another.

Best Bloody Marys Ever

By Erika on July 10th, 2012 / Erika / No Comments

One of my favorite drinks is a spicy Bloody Mary. I make  mine with a good amount of horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, celery salt, freshly cracked black pepper a squeeze  of lime and I garnish it with everything I can fond in the produce drawer of our refrigerator. Mmmmmmm….nothing better! Except I DID find some versions that rival mine…never did I think I’d see a cheeseburger and hotdog (not to mention shrimp, asparagus, pickled onions, olive, celery, etc, etc, etc) garnish the classic hangover cure like this masterpiece served at Sobelman’s Pub & Grill in Milwaukee.

Look at this beautiful Bloody Mary shot from with bacon (!!!), I love miniature-sized versions of food and drink and this one really gets me excited because it includes bacon (!!).

And not to be be outdone, Bear in New York has this Jumbo 32 oz. Bloody Mary with organic vegetable and tomato juice and topped with marinated mushrooms, onions, capers, pickles, olives, hot peppers, a hard-boiled egg, and don’t forget the candied bacon!!!

This gorgeous creation looks just about right on the horseradish and black pepper amounts…just enough to REALLY wake you up on a Sunday morning!

And I couldn’t finish this post without adding my very own delicious spicy creation..my Creole Grilled Shrimp Bloody Mary…happy Sunday!

Hood in Oregon, swimming for hours, mosquito bites, making freshly churned vanilla ice cream with fresh peaches, barbecues… and watermelon. Watermelon was served almost every day and we just couldn’t get enough of the juicy and sweet treat. (more…)
