Ham and Asparagus Strata

This gorgeous Ham and Asparagus Strata is so wonderful for brunch and is so simple to make! A strata is basically a layered casserole- this one includes layers of bread, ham, eggs, asparagus and while cheddar, delicious!



Yield: 4-6

Ham and Asparagus Strata


  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 pound asparagus, trimmed
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
  • 3 cups cubed baguette or day old bread
  • 6 ounces diced ham (cooked)
  • 2 cups sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8 by 8-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat butter in a medium-sized skillet over medium high heat. Add asparagus. Sauté until tender, making sure the butter doesn't burn. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine eggs, milk, and mustard. Add salt and pepper. Whisk until combined. Pour the bread in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle the ham on top of the bread. Pour the egg mixture over the ham and bread. Arrange the asparagus on top of the ham and sprinkle with the cheddar cheese.
  4. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Serve warm.
