Chocolate Chip Cookies (with a secret ingredient!)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature (but not too soft!)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl medium-sized bowl, add butter, white and brown sugar and vanilla extract then beat until creamy. Add lemon juice and beat another 15 seconds. Add eggs and beat well. Slowly mix in flour mixture. When flour mixture is thoroughly combined, stir in chocolate chips. Spoon out heaping tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Smash them down slightly.
  3. Bake for about 10 minutes minutes or until slightly golden brown. Cool on baking sheets until you can touch them (a few minutes) then remove to wire racks to cool.
