Candy Cane Cocoa | The Hopeless Housewife

I just love this simple, creamy chocolate peppermint heaven of a drink. Candy Cane Cocoa is SO perfect for a freezing cold day like today and it’s ready in minutes. Cozy up to a fire with one!

Yield: Seves 2-3

Candy Cane Cocoa

Candy Cane Cocoa

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup half & half
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 ounces bittersweet baking chocolate (4 squares), chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • whipping cream
  • 2 candy canes, crushed

  1. Bring milk, half & half and sugar to a boil over medium-high heat in a heavy saucepan. Immediately turn off heat and stir in chocolate and peppermint extract until blended and all chocolate has melted. Pour into mugs. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.

Do you know the name of this china pattern? I love it? Thanks.

This is a vintage pattern from Spode, it’s very old and passed down in my family, but I believe you can find on ebay? It’s Fleur de Lis grey…this was my favorite pattern growing up and eating in my grandmother’s house. I one time put chili in it and put in the microwave and the platinum on the edges popped and sparked and caught fire!
