Batter Up! It’s Baseball Season!!

“It’s baseball season and once again life is good.” I have heard this many times by die-hard baseball fans..I have some experience here because my husband has been in baseball nearly his whole life- little league, high school baseball, college ball and the big leagues. His grandfather played for the Brooklyn Dodgers so baseball is in his blood, it’s all he’s ever wanted to do. When baseball season starts for us, it means Daddy is back to work, and he gets to do what he loves do, he is very lucky. It also means lots of trips to our beautiful ballpark and baseball FOOD! I have to admit that sometimes I have wanted to go to the game solely for the food. Who can blame me, we have some of the best ballpark fare at Chase Field! I have been across the country to almost every ballpark and I can say I’ve eaten most every “fan favorite” food. Detroit has their Coney Dogs, Cincinnati has their Skyline Chili, San Francisco has their Garlic Fries…it’s Beer and Brats in Milwaukee, and Camden Yards has their Crab Cakes. I could go on and on.  While the Boys of Summer are gearing up for the six-month season, I decided to come up with some fun baseball fare you can make right at home, so you don’t need someone to “take you out to the ballgame” for your favorite baseball food.

I started with a cute little baseball field made of turf and felt, we used foam under the “pitcher’s mound” for baseball cake pops to seemingly burst out of, looks like that batter must have hit it out of the park (forgive how corny I am).  A chalk board score board serves as the perfect backdrop for our baseball display.

I got the printable Food labels on Etsy and the baseball decor on Amazon and at Hobby Lobby (they have these online too!). The turf board is simply turf from Home Depot wrapped around a wood board from Home Depot and ribbon for the base lines. Little pillow puffs serve as our bases. We found the tiered serving platters at Bed Bath and Beyond, they come in handy for all kinds of parties!

Do you love funnel cakes? Hot dogs? How about Funnel Dogs! They are delicious and  a great way to combine the sweet with savory…they may not be pretty but they sure do hit a home run with me!

I love anything with Buffalo sauce and oh boy…these are GOOD!  Buffalo Chicken Lollipops with Blue Cheese Fondue…yum, yum and YUM.  These Pretzel Pigs are delicious pretzel wrapped hotdogs with a salty crust, pretty hard to put down…

Miller Park has a pulled pork parfait…I made a mini version with a different take- Bourbon and Coke Short Rib Parfaits. These Pigs Skins are simply pulled pork inside a red potato skin, 2-bite sized and perfect baseball party food.

You can’t have a baseball gathering without Cracker Jacks, and this version will have you wanting to make it for many other occasions- White Chocolate Cracker Jacks with Candied Macadamia Nuts ….mmmmmmm…

I know I have said this before, I am kind of “over” cake pops except when they are really cute and really go with the theme. These Lemon Baseball Cake Pops do just that– they are bursting out of our pitcher’s mound! I have to admit that getting the stitching right was quite a challenge but I persevered and was victorious (kind of).

Hopeless Contributor Erin made this awesome baseball banner with red striped paper from the craft store with card stock to put on as backing, then blue letters she cut out after stenciling them.

Recipes coming soon! Stay tuned!!
